What was the Cold War?
The cold war was a period of time stretching 45 years. Although it is defined as a war, there were no battles fought with weaponry between the two major powers, the United States and the Soviet Union. These two major powers had fought together in World War II, however once World War II ended the hostilities between to political ideologies began to grow, leading to threats between the Capitalist Government (America) and the Communist Government (The Soviet Union). The Cold War, however did lead to many advances in science, including the Space Race and the discovering of the atomic bomb.
